February Notes

Recipes....

After much research and personal experience, I have decided that the use of artificial sweeteners is not the best idea for long term success...In the past year I have cut my use of them (Splenda and Diabeti Sweet Brown Sugar) dramatically...now I am working on eliminating them almost completely. I have tried Stevia and Truvia and my body can't tolerate either of them. I developed nasty headaches that just aren't worth the trouble...

So, I am experimenting with substituting natural sweeteners like NSA applesauce, agava nectar, honey, sucanant and black strap molasses...I will update my recipes with these changes as I figure out the best combinations...So far so good on them all!! (My Peanut Butter Muffins rock with honey and sucanat instead of the artificial stuff!!)

The use of all of these products is a personal decision...Some people experience no problems and others view anything artificial as 'poison'. The natural sweeteners I am using do add calories, but in the long run, I feel this is the best way to clean up my food choices even more than they are now.

Tour de Cure 2009...

I am officially registered for my third Tour de Cure at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on June 13, 2009!!! This year my goal is to do a Metric Century ride on the speedway - that is 100KM!!

If you would like to support my cause with a donation, you can visit my Tour Page here: Tour De Cure 2009

All donations are tax deductable too!! Thanks for your support!!

Workouts and Menus....

I hopefully will be posting an updated menu and workout plan for what I am currently doing in my quest to get to 20% body fat...So far after 4 weeks, I am LOVIN' my weight training...really starting to see progress albeit slow, but in a POSITIVE direction!! I can now hold my planks for over 60 seconds at a time and a month ago I couldn't stay up 20 seconds!!

If you haven't checked out Tom Venuto's The Body Fat Solution book yet, do so today!! (Link is posted on the sidebar) That is the weight training program I am following along with my healthy nutrition of clean eating!!! I sure do feel better today than I did a year ago thanks to him...

Rant of the week...

WEIGHT TRAINING IS NOT OPTIONAL IF YOU WANT TO LOSE FAT THE RIGHT WAY AND THEN KEEP IT OFF FOR GOOD!! And if you make it FUN, you actually start to look forward to it!!! Lift heavy and you will look great!! Think positive and that will help too!! Challenge your mind and your body to do this!! You will be glad you did!

And one final thought....

NASCAR racing season officially starts today with the Daytona 500 (weather permitting!!)..
I just have to say.........

GO JEFF GORDON!!! :-)
