Duds to Studs.....Reworking Failed Designs into Something Cute!

Elebunny or Buniphant

Sometimes...in the course of designing and making, a few duds happen.....my original elephant design was smallish and I was never really happy with it....a few years ago I redesigned the elephants and they are much better and fun....but I still had a couple of the smallish duds leftover....I had cut off the trunks, but still had the bodies left to 'revamp' into something new....I am designing a new Funny Bunny for my bunny collection and I wanted to try out the facial details on something I had lying around to see if it would work as planned....digging thru my duds, I found one of the old elephant bodies and thought this would be the PERFECT character to try out the new Funny Bunny face details......and it was....Looks pretty good... So what do we call this??? A Bunifant? or an Elebunny? Might even be a deranged mouse!

Next was a doxie dud....

This was a first try for a dachshund....nope...too round and not long enough....so, reworked the face and turned up the nose a bit....Mutt doggie....another dud to stud!

And then there are the Goat Dogs!

Goat Dog - natural

Both of these started out as goat bodies....I trimmed off the horns and made them doggies! They are much better dogs than goats, especially the white one! I even poofed them like I did for some of my llamas!

Instant Studs!

Goat Dog - white

There is a back story on the name 'Goat Dog' and why it make me laugh and smile.....my brother's family had a dog (Bennie) who had a toy that was a doggie shape, but if you rotated it 90 degrees, it looked like a goat! It had no eyes or any other markings...just a 'goat dog' shaped fleecy toy....That toy was the original Goat Dog!
