What's in a name? Knittany Lion Ornaments....my lion ornaments aren't just Lion Ornaments - I call them my Knittany Lion Ornaments because I am a Penn State Alum.....But because using the words Nittany Lions (could) get me in trouble, I used the next best thing, a homonym of Nittany - KNITTANY....which fits because the lion is knitted before it is felted!

What's in a Name? Old McOinker and Ham McOinker
What's in name? Old McOinker and his brother Ham!! The McOinker family came on the scene in 2012...While setting up my booth at the Indiana Artisan show, I noticed that my farm scene was lacking a legit farmer...so I came home and whipped up a farmer pig...Complete with (felted) straw hat and overalls!! I made 3 and took them along and sold them all!! So thinking about Old McOinker's farm....he needed a hired hand...so I made him one, who happened to be his brother - Ham McOinker! Ham has red suspenders and a JD Green hat!! Old McOinker is married to Sowly McOinker....she isn't the typical farmer's wife...she wears a purple dress and pearls to milk the cows!! She has yet to make her show debut....hopefully that will be soon....

What's in a name? Sammy Dino Ornament
| Sammy Dino Ornament |
What's in a name? These are my
Sammy Dino Ornaments....named and
inspired by my nephew Sam Berger's
Dino sketches when he was 5 years
old...He drew 100's of little
T-Rex dinos...with short arms and flat
faces on the head...So I made a felted
version...in many color combos...Last
year at a show I was telling a customer
the story of the name for this ornament
and another customer in my booth
overheard the story and loved it so
much, she had to buy one!!
I usually have 1 or 2 at shows....so
look for Sammy's Dinos on my fun and
fantasy tree!

What's in a Name? More than you might realize....
What's in a name? Have you ever noticed what the 'official' name of some of my ornaments are? (it is listed on the tag if you still have that attached). Some of my things have basic names...Cow Ornament, Horsey Ornament, Mermaid Ornament...etc...But some others have more interesting names....I will share the stories of how I came up with some of the names...and if I have met you at a show, you may already know some of these stories...
The first one I am going to feature is the original 'Pig" ornament...(shown below). The 'Pig' ornaments were one of the very first 3-D (aka stuffed and not flat) ornaments I made back in 2006. The official name is 'Becca's Piggie Ornament', named for my friend's daughter Becca who was born in 2005 and LOVED piggies practically from the day she was born! (And she still loves piggies!) Becca has one of the first ones I ever made and also a few piglets too!!
